Dear Holly,

Thank you for the mention...and I loved "Karen" too, the first book I read as a kid that was about a kid with a disability - those were rare finds back then.

I just have to say I really like your positivity in this blog.

Thank you for posting these links. I'm especially glad to see the link to Glenda's blog, there's not a whole lot of info or blogs on adults with disabilities. It feels to me like the medical community sometimes forgets that we eventually stop being children and do actually need help into our adult years, too.

(I'm 26 and have CP, that's where that all comes from...)

@chicoryblue Thank you so much for reminding me about Schyuler's Monster. I read that book well over two years ago. It's a good one and it definitely helped kick start our quest for Caleigh's communication. I will add this to my list above. Rob's blog is on the side bar for anyone interested as well.

I haven't heard of Karen. I will definitely look for it at our library!

Here are 2 suggestions you might like:
Schyuler's Monster, bu Robert Rummel-hudson. He has a blog, too (Fighting Monsters with Rubber Swords) so you may already know about this one (sometimes who knows who in blogland blurs together).

Karen, by Marie Killilea
This is an old book. It was written by Karen's mom...and their quest to help their daughter (born 3 months premature) back when help was almost non exisistent (1940's). I loved this book as a teen (one of many that sent me on my career path) and recently reread it via the library-and still amazed by it.
