@-M ~ We have thought of a pointer or stylus type of setup. I've talked with our OT who isn't convinced that it would be the best for Caleigh. Since she will need to use her device all the time, it wouldn't be physically "good" for her to have her hand in a fixed position all day. It's definitely something I'm not ruling out though and I plan on trying it. We won't know until we try it.

Caleigh seems like the independent type, so this may not make her happy. But maybe her accuracy would improve if you made some sort of glove/mitten with a stylus for activating the buttons that also tucked her other fingers out of the way. So that way her other fingers aren't unintentionally activating keys and she is using the stylus to hit the buttons?

I just finished watching the link to "Only God Could Hear Me" -Thank you for posting it, that was an amazing documentary. I've been considering doing more research into the development and lack of existing language assessment measures for children with non-speaking disabilities in grad school. This documentary was a good push in that direction for me.

Have you tried sticky keys? It slows down the repeat rate so you can hold it down for longer. If you go into control panel on a regular computer and you go to accessibility option you can test the repeat rate. I'm not sure if it has in Caleigh's device, but it has it on my device, though you might want to ask OT about it. This is just a suggestion because it sounds to me like when she type she's getting more than one letter at a time. It's repeating the same letter when she types it.
